Forget the crowded restaurants on Valentine’s Day. Save the date for a very special cheese, chocolates and beer pairing to celebrate Valentine’s Day at the brewery. Look for some really special beers!
Pairing includes 3 Cheese and 2 Chocolates with 5 beers.
1st – German Butterkase
Butterkase is a semi-soft cheese with a golden natural rind, very popular in Germany and Austria for its creamy texture, buttery like taste. Its name, when literally translated means “butter cheese,” but the cheese is butter free. However, the appealing flavour and appearance makes it a great hit on a cheeseboard. Produced in Landhaus with original cultures and traditional German production methods, it is aged for a very brief period resulting in a mild taste and flavor.
This cheese ripens in one month and has a fat content of 50 per cent. Since Butterkase can be sliced, spread or melted it is a perfect table cheese. It is very good with a glass of beer.
Paired with: Honeydew Ya Wanna Go In the Pool Kolsch: A German Style Kolsch Beer with honeydew. A clean, crisp and delicately balanced beer with subtle lemon flavors with honeydew added. Bright white head with a light sulfury quality. 5% ABV
2nd – Rembrandt Extra Aged Dutch Gouda

Competing against over 1,800 cheeses, Rembrandt was awarded the H.T Webb Trophy for Best Continental Cheese at the prestigious 2002 Nantwich International Cheese Show (UK). Rembrandt also garnered the First Place award in the Best Dutch Cheese class
Paired With: Maibock, Not Your Bock: Alternatively known as helles (pale) bock, Maibocks are brewed in winter and released in late April and May. They are rich yet not overbearing, and are enjoyed before the searing throes of summer. They are transitional, as the warming offerings of winter and early spring give way to something lighter. Skilled brewers subdue the malty overtones of dark bock, and wrap them in the subtleties of lighter German fare. Gold to light amber, Maibock is the perfect compromise. Although relatively new, stylistically speaking, Maibocks might be the closest artifact of the brews that initially made Germany a brewing capitol. The origins of bock beer are akin to the roots of German brewing. 6.5%ABV
